New Music: Childish Major - "Woo$ah"
Childish Major, who is an exemplary producer, writer, and artist, has probably played a part in crafting some of your favorite sounds. From Rocko's 2013 hit U.O.E.N.O to his latest self produced single Mad Hatter, the South Carolina born artist has an impressive production discography. Working with artists such as Rick Ross & Jeezy, his signature sounds exhibit pristine selections in drum/synth contributions, among everything else. He does all of this without lacking in depth which is very admirable. It also goes to show why I couldn't finish typing his name in the YouTube search bar before "Childish Major type beat" showed up. People are itching for his sound.
We've received pleasant glimpses of Major's artistry in scattered features, freestyles, and lately, more full length tracks. Last Spring, he dropped Window Seat, his cathartic take on the Erykah Badu classic. A few months later came the release of self-produced Happy Birthday, an upbeat track in which he recruited TDE pair Isaiah Rashad & SZA for the assist. The track was dropped on his birthday, his personal gift to us. Next was the February drop of previously mentioned Mad Hatter, which he let simmer until his latest release of Lyle LeDuff-produced Woo$ah.
Now this is a venting session that I don't mind listening to. He had me hooked on the first verse.
"Swear I'm just waiting for a reason to bug. I got that itch like spiders creeping up my back. Like Beanie Sigel, I could feel it in the air."
This song is for those days when you're one annoyance away from going off. The lyrics tell you that you're not alone and the production is on point, offering a calming "woosah" on its own. So when that day comes, (and we all know it will), take a deep breath and press play.
PS: Childish Major has announced that his debut project is finished. It can drop any day now so be on the lookout!
We love him on the boards, but his bars are sweeter than Hershey's.
