New Album: SassyBlack - "New Black Swing"

Seattle is blessed to have soulful songstress SassyBlack as a part of its music scene. Her sound is like no other and her personality follows suit. She is as genuine as they come.

It feels like just yesterday when I was sitting in a packed Laser Dome at the Pacific Science Center, anxious to finally hear her perform live. In reality, it was early February. Although the lights were off, her personality and artistry shone brightly through the crowd that night. From her humble introduction, to her playful conversation between songs, all the way down to the last track she performed.  Her smooth voice permeated the air, complimented so perfectly by the laser show above. That night, SassyBlack's set consisted mostly of songs from May 2016 album, No More Weak Dates.

Summer 2017 brings us new sounds from Sassy. She recently released self-produced New Black Swing, and her balance is nothing short of admirable. She is sensual and sexual while sparing us the raunchiness so prevalent in this day and age. Feeding us soulful throwback RnB vibes, she provides a sultry narrative, even showcasing her rapping skills on a few tracks. The album is an experience. One definitely worth having.

On July 7th, Sassy Black will be performing at Neumos for a Red Bull Sound Select Show, curated by Capitol Hill Block Party alongside Portland's social media-elusive Chanti Darling and Denver duo Tennis. Tickets are only $3 with RSVP which is (excuse my language) a fucking STEAL. RSVP here.

If you can't make the show, that's too bad. But that doesn't mean you can't experience the magic.
