New EP: Amir Obè - "None of the Clocks Work"
Amir Obè is no newcomer to the music game. Emerging under the moniker "Phreshy Duzit," Obè first signed with Atlantic Records in 2009. Fast forward 8 years later and he has a built a diverse catalog for himself which includes collabs with PartyNextDoor, production credits on Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late, and several notable solo projects as well. The name change occurred in 2014 with the release of his mixtape Detrooklyn, an ode to his mixed upbringing in Detroit and Brooklyn. Since then, he has released something new every year. Happening In The Grey Area dropped in 2015, Wont Find Love In The Hills followed in 2016, and 2017 brings us None of the Clocks Work, his first project since signing with Def Jam in December 2016.
NOTCW was produced by NYLZ, a Detroit based producer who has worked with Obè since... Well, before he was Obè. Following his works from the beginning, you hear an artist evolving and becoming more comfortable in his sound. His latest project is a solid release and by far my favorite that I've heard from him. The distinctive style is refreshing to say the least and it only took one listen for me to add this EP to my rotation. Check it out below and tell us what you think!
